Flavor Evaluations in Denver – June 26, 2012
Great looking bottles and labels.
St. Eriks Pilsner
- Color and the clear appearance was appropriate for style.
- Slight Foam and stable head.
- Hoppy and malty aroma, however mixed with bisquity, oxidized stale bread, rather strong notes.
- Bitterness was somewhat unpleasant with rough lingering course and harsh after bitterness. Grassy
- Alcohol seemed OK and it did fit the pilsner style
- The flavor was rough and tasted oxidized and mouth feel coarse from trub. It had a yeasty and sulfury flavors, almost like autolysis from yeast. Malt sweetness slightly high and lingering
- The beer was not in balance between the high malt sweetness and the rough course bitterness. I found it had rather low drinkability. (sorry)
- The technical quality otherwise good and clean, and appropriate carbonation level.
